Hand surgery 

Dr Kingston has an interest in bone and soft tissue conditions of the hand and wrist, both traumatic and non-traumatic. He performs reconstructive procedures, joint fusions and joint replacements, arthroscopic surgery, microsurgery and endoscopic (keyhole) carpal tunnel release. He is one of the surgeons who consults at the North Queensland Hand Care Clinic. 

David provides comprehensive guidance on surgical and nonsurgical treatment pathways. He can also perform steroid (cortisone) injections for conditions of the hand and wrist. 

Some of the conditions Dr Kingston treats include: 

  • Carpal tunnel (including endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery) 
  • Trigger finger 
  • Ganglions 
  • Dupuytren’s 
  • Joint arthroplasty (replacements) for finger, hand and wrist arthritis 
  • Arthroscopy (key hole surgery) for the wrist 
  • Tendon and ligament conditions and injuries 
  • Hand and wrist fractures 

Knee and Hip Surgery 

Dr Kingston has a special interest in knee and hip surgery, particularly performing joint replacements to relieve the pain from arthritis. He treats patient non-surgically and surgically for their arthritis pain. He is able to perform robotic hip replacement and robotic knee replacement. He has a particular interest in utilising the latest advancements in enhanced recovery after joint replacement surgery to assist patients with their recovery. 

Trauma surgery 

Dr Kingston regularly performs surgery for both bone and soft tissue trauma. He works with a multi-disciplinary team including local hand therapists, physiotherapists, and podiatrists to assist with recovery from injury and return to work, sporting activities and life. 

Foot and Ankle Surgery 

Dr Kingston performs bony and soft tissue procedures for conditions affecting the foot and ankle.  He also performs joint fusions, bone realignment procedures and soft tissue reconstructions.  He is able to advise on non-surgical treatments for foot and ankle problems and works closely with physiotherapists and podiatrists to ensure patients have the best possible treatment plan for their condition.
